SharePoint - How to get Check in Comment

Hi there,

I'm really new to SP and Flow in general and it would be great if I could get some help that I'll describe below.

Basically, I have a flow that triggers whenever a file is created or modified in my document library. What my flow does is that it will check out that file, update the file and check in. However, upon check in there is an input for comments which I would like to retain the file's original check in comment (which is also why I chose overwrite the file for check in type as shown below). Any advice would really be greatly appreciated.

    Hi @Anonymous

check dynamic content  below and see if you get the comment

    Capture.PNG

This is available in get items properties or should be available from your trigger action as well

    Regards,

    Reza Dorrani

    Hi @RezaDorrani ,

Thank you for the suggestion. I've actually tried using the proposed method but I have been getting the following error message.

    Hi

Is it failing even if you just add regular comment?

    Hi

Yes it appears to be the case. I've only tired adding comments like 'testing', 'test123' but it still fails.

    Hi @Anonymous ,

Please refer to the following method to get the previous check in comments.

Use HTTP request action to get all the versions, and then filter out the version with check in comments.

Then get the latest version of check in comments and then configure it into Check in file action.

    Filter array:

    body('Send_an_HTTP_request_to_SharePoint')['d']['results']
    item()['OData__x005f_CheckinComment']
    null

    Comments:

    body('Filter_array')[0]['OData__x005f_CheckinComment']

I'm also trying to capture my check-in comments, but I am Adding a Row into a Table and need the most recent check-in comment.  I am able to capture static data, but not the text entered when the document is checked back in.

I tried "Send an HTTP Request to SP" method, but kept getting an error that the Uri was not valid (using GetByTitle or RelativeURL).  Using dynamic field of "Comments associated with approval" does not work, either.

Looks like I need some help setting up my Uri??  Much thanks!

This is exactly what I need to do, but I don't see Comments as an option to pick.  I tried to use Compose, but it passes a null value for the comment.  Any ideas?

I tried this and it works but creates an endless loop since when it checks back in, it triggers the flow again.
