Can I "Post an Adaptive Card to a Teams channel and wait for a response", as a reply to an earlier Teams message?

I'm trying to create a flow where I can forward work requests sent via email to a shared mailbox and have the following happen automatically:

  • Post the email message to a Teams channel.
  • Post an adaptive card with options for creating a Planner Task and / or dedicated Teams Channel to work on the email request.

However, I can't figure out how to get the adaptive card posted as a reply to the first message.  Is it possible?

    Hi!
"I can't figure out how to get the adaptive card posted as a reply to the first message"

Let me see I understood your requirements... You mean... send an adaptive card via email as reply to the work request received via email?

If my understanding is correct, and assuming you are working with Office 365 connector, I am pessimistic you can use 'Reply to email' and add send the Adaptive Card there... but you can probably use 'Send email with options' action block, take work request From+To+CC email address and add frem to 'Send email with options' To header...
Also take work request Subject, add it RE: and assign it to 'Send email with options' Subject header...
    Thanx!

Thanks for the reply.  No, that's not quite what I'm trying to do, but I see a limitation of 200 channels per Team, so it probably isn't going to work for what I want anyway.  I'll explain below, but, for my original question, I want the adaptive card to be posted as a reply to the Teams message in this flow, so the topic in Teams would be threaded in a way that makes sense:

Ultimately what I was hoping to do was have an automation where we could easily create a planner task and a private channel for work items by forwarding an email to a shared mailbox.  We'll sometimes end up working on stuff where we end up with several email conversations and it makes it difficult to track and discover when needed.

Of course we could use an issue tracking system (we have one), but a lot of the work ends up being conversational and a tool like Teams feels like a good fit in terms of keeping everything together.  However, the limit of 200 channels per Team is quite low for what I was envisioning.  I was hoping for 1 email request = 1 todo = 1 channel = 1 billable (small) job.

If there's a way to do what I was asking about originally I'd still give a shot just for the learning experience.

"However, the limit of 200 channels per Team is quite low for what I was envisioning. I was hoping for 1 email request = 1 todo = 1 channel "

OMG, I tried a similar approach some months ago, i mean 1 email request - 1 planner task - 1 channel... found the 200 limit also 😥

THere is also a 400 tasks limit if you try to use Planner 'List tasks' to send weekly reports 😫

Anyway, was a great learning experience!

    Now, you question is

"I want the adaptive card to be posted as a reply to the Teams message in this flow, so the topic in Teams would be threaded in a way that makes sense:"

Now I see what you are looking for, the idea makes a lot of sense. However, I am pessimistic, I mean when checking Teams connector I haven't found the way to post an Adaptive as a reply. According to the roadmap, Microsoft is putting a lot of effort to improve this connector in the following months, probably we will see new features and triggers soon.

    Hope this helps

    Hi @ryan29 ,

I agree with @efialttes 's idea that the function to post the Adaptive Card as a reply to a Teams message is not supported in Microsoft flow currently so your requirement couldn't be achieved currently.

    Best regards,
