Need Urgent Help : How to Read Input & Output Values

Dear Team,

I have noticed there is drawback in Power Automate Desktop. People who have worked in Automation Anywhere knows better.

I have a Main and many SubFlows. I want to pass the values dynamically from one to another subflow.

I have to make my subflow dynamically.

For exm. I have an Common Email Subflow. so this is my reusable Flow

Let's say I want to Call this in SubFlowA. based on the Subflow i want to pass the dynamically Message and the Sender.

But i don't have Input parameter to pass dynamically. This is so weird. I can't make all the variable global.

Kindly Suggest , what's your view on that. they should have input and output variable within the flows also. Now am not able to make a common bot. how will i pass the variable dynamically. kindly suggest.

I don't quite understand what is the issue. Can you expand what you mean and maybe with screenshots.

If you have Input variables then you can add them just like any other variable:

Input/Output variables are meant to be used when you use Desktop flows from cloud flows (make.powerautomate.com). Output variable passes the variable to the cloud flow and Input variable receives the value from cloud flow.

You can also use "Set variable" -action to change values of your variables or create new variables. So in your SubFlowA you can use Set variable to set the message and sender to your liking. Then in SubFlowB you can have different Set variable to different sender and message.

Yes,

It's there for Cloud to Desktop and Vice Vera. What about Subflow

Let's say I have Subflow A & Subflow B

I am calling Subflow B from Subflow A

Now i want to pass variable from A to B.

I don't think you can pass right,

Yes you can pass variable from subflow a to subflow b.
It doesn't matter if you change subflow. All your variables will stay the same. So yes you can set variable in SubflowA and use that variable in SubflowB and it will have the value that was set in SubflowA.

You could think of subflow just as a region or scope. Its just a good way to organize and if some part of the code is used alot then its better to use subflows than to add the same steps many times in the Main flow.

Lets say you have Input variable that is a list of emails called EmailContact:

So now in SubFlowA you set Email to be first item on the EmailContact array.

Then set the Email variable to be the second item on the array (index 1) and run subflowB.
When it goes to subflowB it will still have the same variable value that was set in SubflowA

if you create variables in PA desktop it will create as global variables. If you created variable in one subflow you can call that variable in any other subflow.
