Microsoft Forms to PDF without using third party connections

I've been trying to create a flow for a number of days now and have managed to get nowhere. I need to create a flow that can take information from a Form and use it to fill out a PDF or a word document and i can't use any third party apps. My original plan was to use the "populate a word doc" but I have an API error and can't figure out how to use it.

The other option was a SharePoint lis but the problem is that the majority of questions are multiple line questions and theres about 40+ columns in the SharePoint list. Then the information needs to be sent on to another company which isn't the same every time. So it would only be good for storing the information then they would have to copy and paste it out into a email to send on.

Ontop of this I want to avoid Excell as much as possible. Can anyone help me or point me in the right direction.

Your only real options are generating a Word Doc, or SharePoint List. Due to Adobe licensing, the built in PDF conversion features from OneDrive are very limited (thus the reason for premium/third party connectors).

With the SharePoint List data, you can also create Word documents, and/or create an HTML email body and parse in the various data points from the list into the HTML email.

For the Word file creation, if you could provide an expanded screenshot of your Flow and steps, and of any detailed error messages you're receiving we could likely better assist you.

    Hi @Anonymous ,

It seems that you are using the action “Populate a word template”, please show me more details on the flow configuration and error message.

According to your description, I have created a flow for your reference.

When a form is submitted, create a word file first, then convert it to PDF file.

    An image for your reference:

    1.PNG

Further, when working with action Populate a Microsoft Word template, make sure you have done the following things:

    • Add Developer tab to the ribbon
    • Add multiple Plain text content controls as needed and you could rename the controls as well:2.PNG
    • Upload the word template to OneDrive for Business or SharePoint library
    • In the action Populate a word template, select the file you uploaded. Then populate corresponding value from the form to each field.

A blog Generate Word documents in your flows for your reference:

    Best regards,

    Mabel

    @v-yamao-msft

I tried the same technique but I got an error on "Convert a File" step.

It says a bad request for some reason.

    Hi @Anonymous ,

We've just posted a new blog covering this... albeit it does use our third party (standard) connector - Free plan available 🙂

    May help?

    Jay

I am getting error in the Apply to each Steps. Actually in your demo, u had mentioned to select "List of Responses". but in my case for that step, it shows only three options as Response Id, Respource Data and Body. I tried all three but the error is

The execution of template action 'Apply_to_each' failed: the result of the evaluation of 'foreach' expression '@triggerOutputs()?['body']' is of type 'Object'. The result must be a valid array.

    Could someone help me please.

    Hi,

I’ve used the above and it works perfectly, expect for one part.

the form has an upload section for signature jpg, however I keep getting an error saying the file type is not jpg.

When I add a new section to drag the content from OneDrive and then into form it works perfectly, any suggestions?
