Get File Contents of Excel File Missing Rows

(1) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 32

This is a fun one...

The flow does the following:

  1. Pull the current rows from an Excel sheet in Sharepoint and delete all the rows.
  2. Insert some new data into the Excel sheet.
  3. Wait for 90 seconds.
  4. Get the contents of the excel file from Sharepoint.
  5. Get another word document from Sharepoint (irrelevent to the issue, but I wanted to explain where there are two 'Get File Contents').
  6. Send both files in an email.

When the file arrives by email, it's missing most of the added Rows.

If I view the excel file in sharepoint, all the rows are there.

If I view the excel file during the delay, all the rows are there.

What's going on? It's like the Get File Contents is looking at an older version of the file in Sharepoint... surely 90 seconds is more than enough to wait?

Any help appreciated.

    Hi @MrRK,

According to the Excel connector docs, the connection can hold a lock up to 6 min after an update. Since you're using a SharePoint connector to get the file contents within that window, that introduces a concurrency/locking issue. I imagine if you increased your delay to say 10 min, the previous connection and lock "should" be released.

    Nice, thanks for your help.

I’ll adjust the delay to 6 minutes and see how we get on.

Hi @MrRK . Old issue, but did that delay end up helping?
