populate MS Word doc fail

Trying to auto-populate MS Word doc with Flow using "Populate a Microsoft Word template".  Triggered from selected item in a list  (I will call "List1"). Then populate a template (lives in a document library, "List2").  Fields in the template are "ID" and "name_".  ID is the List1 assigned ID.  Flow test says success but resulting document ID and name_  fields always blank. What am I doing wrong?

    Hi @neuronic

I have made a test on my side and don't have the issue that you mentioned.

Please add .docx in the end of File Name in Create file action and try again.

Could you please share screenshots of the Get items and Create file's output as below?

    Hi @neuronic

    It seems have no problem.

After flow runs, the file name with ID and name_  fields still blank?

Could you please share screenshots of the Get items and Create file's output after flow runs? to check the 'ID' and 'name_' whether have value.Like the below :

    Hi @neuronic

According to your output, the file name seems has no problem. I also tested it with your id and name, it can be created normally, as shown in the screenshot below.

You can try to write a fixed name in the File Name to test whether it can be displayed normally in Sharepoint.

Hi thanks. I have not had problem with file name. It is just that the filed in the crated document are always empty. Is there anything else I can try?  Was same with a fixed file name.

    Hi @neuronic

Sorry, I got it wrong,I thought your problem was in the file name 😅.

Are your ID and name_ fields custom content control in your word template ?

You can refer to the articles to set your word template.

Thanks yes the template Word document has two controls ("ID" & "name_") see below the controls in Word doc and the associated properties.  Also below the Flow populate box.

I cant find any explanation for failure in the links you sent.
