How to Create a New Dropbox Folder

I'm trying to create a flow with a step that creates a new Dropbox folder based on a certain trigger (a row added to a Smartsheet sheet). Each time the trigger happens, the folder name should be auto-generated and sequentially based—for example, folder-1, folder-2, folder-3, and so on.

Unfortunately, creating a folder is not one of the available Action options under Dropbox operations.

Has anyone created a flow step that creates a new folder in Dropbox? Or have any thoughts on how this can be accomplished? Perhaps by using a connector?

TIA.

    Hi there,

I don't think this is possible right now... I found this idea posted:

I can't seem to find anything about other ways to create folders.. only the API from dropbox :S

Thank you for your input and the links. I actually figured out a workaround.

You can set a trigger to create a new file in Dropbox. You can also specify the creation of a new folder to house that new file. Thus, if you can live with a superfluous "dummy" file within the folder, then you can have your folder.

I'm also looking at another workaround. This one involves copying over a file from another platform (e.g., SharePoint) into Dropbox, this action also triggering the creation of a new folder to house the imported file.

Kinda odd that there's no way to create just a folder on its own, but these workarounds suffice well enough.

Ahhhhhhh! I was wondering if that would work but I don't have a dropbox account to test with.

Mark yourself as the solution! Good find.

Hi David!  Hate to be a pest, but could you please expand on the tantalizing news that you figured out a workaround for this problem?  I cannot for the life of me find where I can "also specify the creation of a new folder to house that new file".  Please let us know what you did to achieve that!

This is the same solution that I arrived at.  I generate the path I want and then using "Create File", I create a txt file with a single letter for content using the generated path.  Next I delete the file and the desired folder is left behind.  It has been working great for me for a year now.

Now I want to get the public link for the folder.  Zappier can do it.  Why not in the API for Power Automate? Sheesh!
