If you want to do UI automation, there is currently no way to have such flows running while using your computer. Only certain actions can be run in the background, such as working with files and folders, Excel, scripting, etc. Some web automation actions also work fine in a browser without interfering with your mouse and keyboard. But actions under the UI automation actions group, as well as the Mouse and keyboard actions group, and any actions involving images will require that you do not use the PC while the flow runs.

If you need to use it, I would suggest getting a virtual machine to run your flows. You can get a hosted machine from Microsoft, or find another cloud infrastructure supplier where you could rent a VM from.

Does anyone know if this feature will be added at some point in the future? If not, any idea where I can request the feature? For my particular case, I don't have the option of using a virtual machine because of licensing restrictions for the software I'm using in conjunction with Power Automate Desktop. So ideally, I need to actively work on my machine and have the bot run a script on the same machine simultaneously.

The release plan includes "Non disruptive desktop flows execution mode" in the plan for wave 2 of 2023. See here for more details: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-platform/release-plan/2023wave2/power-automate/

The more detailed release plan doesn't have that, though. So, it might be some time next year in fact.
