Copilot Studio: After Manual/User Authentication Configuration - Required Auto-login

Hello All,

I recently received a requirement to configure automatic login for Power Virtual Agents embedded in Power Apps Portals. I saw a similar example in a blog (https://community.powerplatform.com/blogs/post/?postid=82785a1b-898b-ef11-ac20-6045bda91957), but I need the auto-login to work for Power Virtual Agents once the user has logged in to the Power Apps Portal.

    Hi,

If the Power Apps Portal and Copilot agent are using the same identity provider and the user is already authenticated in the portal, a true seamless SSO experience may be possible. However, when the agent is configured with authenticated access, the login prompt is typically required so the agent can obtain its own authentication token and establish the user's identity within Copilot.

If users are already signed in to the portal but are still being prompted to click Login in the chatbot, I would recommend reviewing the authentication configuration for both the portal and the Copilot agent to ensure they are using the same identity provider, tenant, and authentication flow. In many cases, repeated sign-in prompts occur when the portal session is not automatically passed to the bot or when the bot authentication configuration cannot silently redeem an existing user session.

The key question is whether the portal authentication context is being shared with the Copilot agent. If configured correctly, users may be able to authenticate automatically without an additional login interaction. If not, the sign-in card is expected behavior and users will need to complete the login step before the agent can access authenticated resources on their behalf.

Could you share which identity provider is being used for the Power Apps Portal (Microsoft Entra ID, Azure AD B2C, Okta, etc.) and how authentication is configured in the Copilot agent? That will help determine whether silent SSO is supported in your scenario.

    Thanks,
