Hi everyone,

I recently noticed a new Visualization setting when creating a column in Power Apps / Dataverse.
The available options include:

None

Heat Map

Line Chart

Radial Dial

Star Rating

I have not come across this setting before and could not find much information about how it is intended to be used.

Has anyone already worked with this feature?

I would be especially interested in knowing:

Where is the selected visualization displayed?

Does it work in model-driven app forms, views, dashboards, or only in specific controls?

Which column types are supported?

Is this a new preview feature or an older feature that has recently been exposed in the modern designer?

re there any practical use cases or known limitations?

Interestingly, the option is also shown when creating a lookup column, even though visualizations such as Heat Map or Star Rating do not seem particularly meaningful for a lookup.

I would appreciate any experiences, documentation links, or examples from the community.

From what I've been able to determine, these are not new visualization controls for forms or views themselves. They appear to be metadata settings related to how a column can be rendered when used by certain model-driven app experiences or custom controls.

A few observations:

The options (Heat Map, Line Chart, Radial Dial, Star Rating) closely resemble the legacy visualization/control framework that has existed in Dataverse for years through custom controls and visual representations.
The fact that the setting appears on Lookup columns suggests the modern designer may simply be exposing the property generically, even when the visualization doesn't make practical sense for that data type.
I haven't seen these visualizations automatically appear on model-driven forms, views, dashboards, or Canvas apps simply by selecting them in the column definition.
In my testing, changing the Visualization setting alone doesn't seem to add any visible UI change to forms or views.

My suspicion is that this is either:

An older Dataverse metadata property that has recently been surfaced in the modern designer, or
A foundation for future visualization experiences that hasn't been fully documented or rolled out yet.

As for supported column types, the most logical candidates would be numeric columns for Star Rating, Radial Dial, and Heat Map, but the fact that the dropdown is shown for lookups suggests the UI is not currently filtering the choices based on column type.

At the moment, I haven't found any Microsoft documentation explaining where these visualizations are rendered or what experiences actually consume the setting. If anyone has successfully used one of these options and seen it affect a model-driven form, view, dashboard, or custom page, I'd be very interested to hear about it.

My guess is that we're looking at an exposed but largely undocumented Dataverse feature/metadata property rather than a fully supported end-user feature.
