Wanted Access to Power Platform

Hi Everyone,

I’m currently exploring Microsoft Power Automate and the broader Microsoft Power Platform ecosystem for learning and upskilling purposes.

Unfortunately, I’m unable to access Power Platform services using my company email/account due to organizational restrictions.

I wanted to check if anyone could guide me on:

  • how to get free access to Power Automate Cloud,

  • how to create a free developer environment,

  • or whether there are any alternative ways to practice Power Platform features for learning purposes.

I already have experience in RPA/automation and want to expand into Power Platform and cloud automation.

Any guidance, resources, or suggestions would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!

To use the Power Apps Developer Plan, you need either a work or school account , personal Microsoft accounts won't work here.

If you don't have either, one option worth considering is the Microsoft 365 Business Premium plan, which is reasonably priced and gives you a work account along with access to Power Platform. From there, you can spin up a developer environment to access the premium Power Platform features without needing additional licensing. That's actually the approach I personally follow.

There is no free option for using the Power Platform. As others have said, you need to have a work or school account. However, in addition to those options, you can get a developer account as well. You can learn about that at Power Apps Developer Plan | Microsoft Power Platform. You'll get a free trial, but once the trial runs out you need to pay.

Additional details about using a developer account can also be found at Power Apps Developer Plan Guide: Features and Benefits - Power Platform | Microsoft Learn

You can get free training at Official Microsoft Power Platform documentation - Power Platform | Microsoft Learn if you just want to learn the platform. This does not give you access to create apps or workflows though.
