Trying to Automate - Virtual desktop based application

Hi Everyone,

We are trying to automate one of our virtual desktop–based applications using Power Automate Desktop. Unfortunately, we are unable to capture actions within the application using UI automation. We have already installed the required Power Automate Virtual Agent. For your reference, I’ve attached the related files.

Kindly help us resolve this issue.

    Hi,

When automating applications hosted in a virtual desktop environment, UI element capture can depend heavily on the virtualization technology, application type, and how the remote session is rendered to the local machine.
    A few things to check:
    • Confirm that the Power Automate machine runtime and the appropriate remote desktop/virtual desktop extension are installed and running on both the local machine and the virtual desktop session.
    • Determine whether the application is a standard Windows application, web application, Citrix-hosted application, or another virtualized application type, as the automation approach may differ.
    • Try using the UI Elements picker directly inside the virtual desktop session rather than from the local machine.
    • If UI elements cannot be detected, test whether image-based automation or coordinate-based actions work, as some virtualized applications do not expose their controls to UI automation frameworks.
    • Verify that the application is not running with elevated administrator privileges while Power Automate Desktop is running with standard user permissions, as this can prevent element capture.
    • Review the Power Automate Desktop logs and confirm whether any UI automation errors are being generated when attempting to capture elements.
To help narrow down the root cause, could you share which virtual desktop technology is being used (Citrix, Azure Virtual Desktop, VMware, Remote Desktop Services, etc.) and whether no elements are detected at all, or only specific screens within the application?

    Thanks,
