Screen reader use html lang setting of the canvas app

Here is our issue. We are required to provide bilingual English/French applications. We have managed the translation on screen no problem. However, when we switch to French, the underlying HTML still says EN and so the NVDA screen reader tries to read the French text on screen as English words and vise versa for French users who switch the app to English.

I've searched through the forum and online, We can manage it with JS Script in a Model-Driven app, but cannot do it in a canvas app.

We also need to meet WCAG 2.2 AA standard and the screen reader is an issue for us with the canvas apps.
