Dynamics 365 Business Central MCP (Preview) – "No tools available" / Connector request failed

Hi all,

I'm trying to get the Dynamics 365 Business Central MCP (Preview) tool working in an agent (Copilot Studio), but I'm stuck on a persistent error and hoping someone here has hit this too.

The issue:

On the Tools tab of the MCP connection, I get

⚠️ Connector request failed – Couldn't retrieve the requested item

No tools ever load ("No tools available"), even though Environment, MCP Server Configuration, and Company are all correctly set.

What I've already tried

  • Deleted all Business Central and MCP-related connections from Power Automate / make.powerapps.com — multiple times

  • Deleted and re-added the MCP tool several times

  • Created a brand-new agent and added the MCP tool again from scratch

  • Waited for cache to clear (20–30+ minutes) before retrying

  • Tested in Incognito mode to rule out browser/cache issues

  • Changed Authentication mode to Maker

  • Verified in Business Central that the MCP configuration is Active and validation succeeds on that end

  •

Despite all of this, the tools still fail to load and I get the same "Couldn't retrieve the requested items" error every time.

Environment details:

  • Business Central MCP Server Configuration: Active, validated

  • Connector: Dynamics 365 Business Central MCP (Preview)

  • Error: "Connector request failed – Couldn't retrieve the requested items"

  •

Has anyone else run into this, and if so, how did you resolve it? Is this a known Preview limitation, a permissions/licensing issue, or something specific to how the MCP server config is being read on the Power Platform side?

Any pointers — or confirmation this is a known bug being tracked — would be much appreciated. Happy to share more screenshots/logs if useful.

Thanks in advance!

    Hello  ,

Thanks for sharing the detailed troubleshooting steps. Based on what you've described, this does not appear to be a connection caching issue since you've already recreated connections, tested a new agent, used Incognito mode, and verified the MCP Server Configuration is active and successfully validated in Business Central.
Since the error occurs while Copilot Studio is attempting to enumerate available tools from the Dynamics 365 Business Central MCP (Preview) connector, it may indicate either:

    •   A permission/access issue between the Power Platform connection and the Business Central MCP configuration.
    •   A mismatch in how the MCP server metadata is being exposed or read by the connector.

As an additional check, verify that the account used for the connector has the required permissions in both Business Central and the Power Platform environment, and review any errors in the Power Platform connection details, browser network traces, or Business Central telemetry logs if available.
