Bug with Send Email with Options

I believe I may have discovered a bug in the Send Email with Options connector in Power Automate but I wanted to the ask the community just to make sure I am not missing something small/stupid.

When using "Send Email with Options" I am configuring it with the below options, specifically to not show a confirmation window when clicked. When I send it to a user account, it works as intended however when I send it to a shared inbox it still opens the confirmation box in a separate window. Even the link that goes to the shared inbox shows that the flag is set to false yet still opens the confirmation dialog; its as if the mailbox is ignoring the link

Is there something that I am missing like a setting or configuration within the flow or shared inbox? Thanks in advance!

This is standard action. When the link is clicked, it must open in a browser window to record the action taken.

The confirmation dialog would show after the button is clicked but before the response is recorded:

@Tomac when i click on the link from a user account it does not open a window in my browser, it performs the action all within outlook. however, when i click on the link from a shared inbox, it opens in a tab in my browser

Gotcha, I missed that part of your original message, sorry.

Per Microsoft's documentation, this is expected behavior:

@Tomac thanks for that, any idea on a possible work-around that I can do? the opening of another tab is slightly annoying

I cant use start/wait for approvals because the email needs to go to shared inbox for that team to work without assigning it to a specific person

I don't know of a workaround, but maybe some of the other forum users can suggest something. Michael Gernaey, David_MA, and stampcoin all post very creative solutions to sticky problems. Hopefully they see this post and add some thoughts.

The send e-mail with options action can only be sent to people. It does not work with shared mailboxes.

@David_MA thanks for the response, any recommended approach to how to work around this? or at least away to pause a flow until someone with access to the shared inbox replies/interacts with the email?

    Hi there!

I'm using Send Email with Options extensively and works great!  The root cause is the recipient must be a person, not a shared mailbox.  If the mailbox is an internal mailbox, go find the members (you can see them directly in Outlook365) and add all their email addresses to a string variable, such as:

    person1@email.com; person2@email.com; person5@email.com

Then with send email with options, use the variable instead of the sharedinbox address.

What @trice602 mentioned is one method you can use to populate the names. I don't believe there is a Graph API request to get the members of a distribution list, at least I could not find a call to do this. If you want the flow to be flexible so someone can add/remove people to the group, you could use one of the methods mentioned here: 2 Ways to List Group Members in Power Automate - Power Tech Tips

If you go with the SharePoint group method, you can follow this to get the e-mail addresses of the members. Just be sure to use a semicolon instead of a comma in the join: Power Automate Get Member Email Addresses of a SharePoint Online Group | Michael Harley

You could also get your distribution list converted to a mail-enabled security group. You can then use the method above to get the members from it,
