Hi everyone,
We recently started facing an inconsistent licensing issue with one of our production flows, and I’m trying to understand why it is affecting some users but not others.
The Setup:
We have a solution involving Power Apps, Azure Key Vault, and Microsoft Lists.
The Trigger: We have a "Get User Password" button in a Microsoft List (triggered via column formatting/Instant Flow).
The Flow Logic: When an IT employee clicks the button, the flow triggers an HTTP request to Azure Key Vault to retrieve and decrypt a password, then updates the list item to reveal it.
The Licensing Configuration:
Service Account: The account that owns the flow has a Power Automate Premium license.
Run-Only Users: All IT users are added to the "Run-Only Users" list for this flow.
End Users: The IT employees themselves only have standard Office 365 E3 or E5 licenses.
The Issue:
Recently, some users (including me) have started receiving a licensing error when clicking the button, while others can still run the exact same flow successfully.
The Error:
Error: Flow could not be activated because you need a Power Automate Premium license or other license that includes premium connectors to save this flow with connection: 'Http'.
The Confusion:
Since the Service Account has a Premium license and the Run-Only users are set to use that account's connection, we expected this to work. Why are some users getting prompted for a license while others are not?
Any insights would be appreciated.
Thanks!
