File processing capabilities in new Copilot Studio

In the classic version of Copilot Studio there is an option in settings to enable file uploads by users. This setting does not appear to be present in the new Copilot Studio settings and I have noticed that I am unable to upload a file to the agent when public via the MS365 Copilot channel. Has anyone else experienced this issue with the new Copilot Studio?

It looks like a missing feature. There's no mention of a planned addition in the roadmap :(

If the File uploads setting is completely missing in the new Copilot Studio experience while it is available in the classic experience, and the issue has been reproduced across environments, this is likely either a feature parity gap or a product regression rather than a misconfiguration. As a workaround, continue using the classic Copilot Studio experience for agents that require user file uploads until Microsoft confirms full parity or resolves the issue. If this capability is critical, it's advisable to open a Microsoft Support case and provide screenshots of both the classic and new experiences, as this will help determine whether your tenant is affected by a known issue or staged rollout.

The setting exists in the new experience, it's just in a different location. Go to the Settings page for your agent, and select Generative AI. Navigate to the File processing capabilities section. Turn on File uploads.
So in the new experience: Settings > Generative AI > File processing capabilities > File uploads toggle. It's not missing, just reorganised under a new section name.
For the M365 Copilot channel specifically: file uploads via the M365 Copilot app (not Teams chat) are a confirmed platform gap regardless of this setting. To use the content, use a Microsoft 365 experience such as Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat, which supports sensitivity-labeled files. File uploads work in Teams 1:1 chat with the agent and in the test panel, but the M365 Copilot sidebar app has known limitations with passing uploaded files to custom agents. Enable the setting first and test in Teams chat directly rather than via the M365 Copilot app.
