Date Comparison Error in Condition

I’m creating a flow to send reminder emails when:

  • Meeting date is within 5 days
  • Pre-meeting materials = No
  • Sign-up status = Filled

SharePoint columns:
  • Date_x002f_TimeofMeeting (Date/Time)
  • Pre_x0024_MeetingMaterialsSent (Yes/No)
  • Sign_x0024_upStatus (Choice)

Condition setup in Basic Mode:

  • Row 1: Date_x002f_TimeofMeeting → is less or equal to → addDays(utcNow(), 5)
  • Row 2: Pre_x0024_MeetingMaterialsSent → is equal to → No
  • Row 3: Sign-up Status: Value → is equal to → Filled

Error Message: "Comparing a numeric value with a non-numeric value is not supported."

Tried:

  • formatDateTime(addDays(utcNow(), 5), 'yyyy-MM-ddTHH:mm:ssZ')

  • ticks(addDays(utcNow(), 5))

  • string(ticks(addDays(utcNow(), 5)))

I am still learning how to make flows so any insight is helpful. I need to make this one and another one that does something very similar but it would be the opposite where it would be 5 days after a meeting date happens.

    Date Comparison Error in Condition

    WAIT: Is this from Excel???? if so then thats the problem, the left side would be a numeric due to non-conversion to 8601 and the right side would be a Date so it would fail (aka non-numeric).. if this is excel thats why

    So when I look Date_x002f_TimeofMeeting → is less or equal to → addDays(utcNow(), 5)

    A couple of things sorry for the color.

    Is DateTime actually a Date or is it a string, can you verify for sure because

    Either way is less or equal to is expecting an int value.

    Is the addDays was that typed into an Expression? because it doesn't look like it should in the Ux.

    Date Comparison Error in Condition
    Hi Michael,

    Thanks for your comment, and sorry for the delay - I was away on vacation! This isn’t Excel; it’s a flow I’m building for a Microsoft Lists. The columns are:

    • Date_x002f_TimeofMeeting (A Date/Time column)

    • Pre_x0024_MeetingMaterialsSent (A Yes/No column)

    • Sign_x0024_upStatus (A Choice column I need to show the choice “Filled”)

    •

    What I need:

    1. Send a reminder email to a person who signed up when:

      • Meeting date is within 5 days of the above date and time column

      • Pre-meeting materials sent? (a question they answer yes/no) = No

      • Sign-up status (the choice question where it marks if the meeting is open or filled) = Filled

      •

    I tried using addDays(utcNow(), 5) in Basic Mode, but I keep getting the error:

    "Comparing a numeric value with a non-numeric value is not supported."

    Do you have any tips for comparing the SharePoint Date/Time column correctly?

    Appreciate your help on this! I've been trying to get this for a few weeks now. I have to make one that send emails to one group 5 days before the meeting and another one 5 days after the meeting too when they havent checked a box on the form.

    Try this expression for the date check instead and check if it returns true:

    lessOrEquals(items('Apply_to_each')?['Date_x002f_TimeofMeeting'], addDays(utcNow(), 5))

    Be sure to choose True from the expression builder and do not type true or it will not work.

    Also, based on what you mention above, once it gets past the date the condition should next fail on the check of the Pre_x0024_MeetingMaterialsSent since you say it is a yes/no field in SharePoint. That is a Boolean, and you need to choose False from the expression builder rather than typing no. Booleans return 1 (yes/true) or 0 (no/false). If you type this in rather than choosing true or false from the expression builder, you will get the same error that you are comparing a numeric value against a non-numeric value.
