Using Sandbox environment as a Production environment

I would like to inquire about the possibility of using the Sandbox environment as a Production environment. Are there any limitations or considerations that I should be aware of? Can I rely on the Sandbox environment for production-level usage without encountering any significant issues? I would appreciate any insights or guidance on this matter.

I wouldn't recommend using a Sandbox as a production environment.

Environments in the Power Platform are assigned DTU’s – Database Transactional Units – which is a combination of RAM, processing power and hardrive space. Microsoft assign less DTU’s to sandbox environments as they are seen as a lower priority compared to Production environments. It's why many actually use Production environment types as their UAT space - to ensure maximum performance.

Thank you for your response and recommendation. I appreciate your insight on using a Sandbox environment as a production environment.

In addition to the performance considerations you mentioned, are there other important points to consider when deciding to use a Sandbox environment as a production environment?

I can't seem to find anywhere that supports this statement. I'd like to think it's true, would explain a lot!

But I'm struggling to see this in any MS documentation. I thought the only difference between Sandbox/Production was the access controls in place.
