Did you check whether the old app is a previous version?  Cut and paste hasn't always been supported.  It can also be a problem if you try to cut and paste between apps.

Same Issue: In pApps I am unable to copy and paste any component, label, icon, gallery, or any other item. I have tried Ctrl C / Ctrl V, and I have tried using the tree view, three dots, and copy. Either way, I get the same issue. "Error, the clipboard doesn't contain any YAML Code to paste". I have also tried to paste into Notepad, and it is empty.

If I go into the function text box =fx I can copy and paste the function with no problem, but it will not work with any item on any page of an app.

I have added a screenshot of the error and all the authoring versions I have available. I have tried each one to see if it would work. I have also tried different apps, and the same issue persists.

I'm having the exact same issue.  It just started for me today.  I was able to copy and paste controls within my apps just fine yesterday, but today I can't.  Get the same error message as you.

experiencing same issue.  Opened an app I hadn't updated for a month or 2.  Cannot Paste any controls.  Can Copy, but when try to paste anywhere (same container, same gallery) get a YAML error.    Cannot change the Authoring version.  Cannot create a label and copy the code in.  Cannot create a container and move any existing control into it.  This is a problem.  The controls have all been formatted a certain way.  Creating new control and having to apply all the formatting instead of copy/paste is potentially really time consuming.

Newer app works perfectly fine.  Cut/paste drag/drop no problems.

Intermittendly I have been experiencing the same issue, albeit with apps that were created in the recent past. However, copying the same control(s) again usually resolved the issue for me.

What you may try as a workaround is the "view code" option and the copy the YAML from there to paste it elsewhere.

It is my feeling that, as part of the development of the viewing/pasting of code feature, a bug has snuck its way in which is causing these issues. I recommend opening a ticket with Microsoft to address the issue on the longer term: Get Help + Support in Power Platform - Power Platform | Microsoft Learn

I took another look at settings.  I turned off "Co-Authoring" and that seems to have fixed the issue.  The "view code" or any of the other YAML workaround weren't/aren't even showing as an option. My environment (Government) has certain things disabled longer than everyone else.
