In the context of uploaded generative AI documents, is there a standardized format or recommended practice for presenting global variables to ensure their recognition as variables rather than plain text?

For instance, if a user is seeking information like their latest payment date within a document, how should the variable be formatted within the document so that its value can seamlessly replace the variable placeholder in the response? In other words, how can I structure the variable within the document to achieve an output like 'Your latest payment date was November 28th, 2023.' instead of 'Your last payment date was variable: Global.latest_payment_date.'?

I don't think this is possible today with generative answers.
Alternatively, can you call an API or connector to retrieve the last payment data and capture it as a variable?
