Upgrade from CRM 2011 to 365 Online

Hi i understand the upgrade process to get from CRM 2011 to 365 Online but i would like peoples opinion on when to fix your code. Should you evaluate the whole way through or just start fixing or replacing code at the final stage online.

Are there any useful tools out there also prior to solution checker
