Delegation Issue When Filtering SharePoint List by Current User in Person Column

(0) ShareShare

Posted on by 4

A Power Apps gallery is supposed to display items assigned to the current user using a Person field in SharePoint. Formula used:

Filter('Tasks', AssignedTo.Email = User().Email)

This gives a delegation warning and fails on large lists (>500 items)

    Try to get the user id , and set it to a variable in OnStart.
    and use the Id  for filter.
    For example :
    Set(Id,LookUp(myList, Email = User().Email,Id));

    Filter('Tasks', AssignedTo.Id= varId)

    if the task can belong to multiple users. then

    Filter('Tasks', varId in AssignedTo.Id  )

    Hi!

    I had no issues using the same formula (the displayed item is beyond the Data Row limit as set in the app (2):

    Can you share further details about the column settings (hint: screesnhots help!), and confirm this is the full formula you are using and it does not have any additional conditions in it.

    Hi.
    .Email on complex columns like AssignedTo is not delegable in SharePoint connector.
    1. Create a hidden single-line text column in SharePoint named AssignedToEmail.
    2. Auto-populate this column using Power Automate or within the app using Patch:
      Patch('Tasks', ThisItem, {AssignedToEmail: User().Email})
    3. Filter the gallery using: Filter('Tasks', AssignedToEmail = User().Email)
    This approach is fully delegable and performant.

    Just noting here that the observation by @vipuljain03 is incorrect. Certain complex field types (single choice Person, Choice or Lookup columns for example) are delegable with the equals operator and your formula on its own Filter('Tasks', AssignedTo.Email = User().Email) certainly should be Delegable (and I have just tested one here).
    @BCBuizer is correct and I am sure he can sort this out for you.
