Tenant/Environment strategy

Hi all,

Hoping to get your advise on a problem my client is currently facing.

Situation: my client has two different stakeholders for Power Platform, the CRM stakeholders and the Citizen Developer stakeholders. At the moment there is 1 tenant, and no DLP policy as we had to delete the DLP policy from the North Star Landing Zones. The DLP policy was deleted as CRM stakeholders are using Power Automate flows for business critical applications.

Complication:

As CRM was not in the original scope, we dont know which connectors they are using to create a fitting DLP policy, and they do not have a governance structure set up. Now we are facing these three options, and I hope someone can advise me on the best option and why.

Question:

- option 1: Same tenant, different DLP policies for CRM and Citizen Developer stakeholders

- option 2: Same tenant, same DLP polocy for CRM and CD

- option 3: Create new tenant (how much does this cost?), 1 tenant for CRM and 1 tenant for Citizen Developers.

I have the same question (0)

    Hello @YvoValcon,

Unless your customer's citizen developers would be working with data stored in Dynamics 365, option 1 would probably be best.

You could set up separate environments for your citizen developers, and then apply specific DLP policies to these environments (and another one for the D365 environment, if that's required).

Creating a separate tenant would mean separate user accounts, which is inconvenient for the users, and it you need additional licenses. hence I would rule out option 3.

Option 2 would make sense if citizen developers would be working with data stored in Dataverse from Dynamics 365, and it doesn't sound like they do.
