Why default in Number Input in 0 ?

How to let the number input field be blank when nothing is returned from a data source ? The number input field presently is populated with zero when data source returns nothing for a value which is misleading for a field no data has been entered. I am using it outside of Forms.

I don't think there is a way to control the number and display blank instead of 0. I think your best bet is putting a rectangle shape on top of the Number input control (don't hide the Chevrons). Something like the below, but update the fill to match the color -
Now what you can do is, control the visibility of this Rectangle based on the value in the Data Source.
Visible property would look something like this:
    IsBlank(LookUp(DataSource, ID = SelectedItem.ID).ValueColumn)
    Hope this helps.

    Kind regards,
    Nandit

    Thanks @Nandit

that is an interesting workaround, however we need to let the user edit the value for dozens of such fields. The value if entered by user has to be written in datasource (or otherwise not written, but no zero).

It may not be possible but I believe its reasonable to expect the Number input  to show blank where it is blank.

    Hi DV-01100907-0,

You can also add a check, and if nothing is returned you can set the value of the control to Blank() and that will show an empty box. Note that you may need to refresh the screen/view in order to have the updated Value to show.

    Value set up as:
    Field looks like this:

I've not experienced a blank value becoming a zero.

    1. Does the underlying list have a default value set to 0, and that's where it's being set?
    2. Does the Card or control have a default of zero

If neither of those are true, then...

If this is a Form, then the Card's Value can be modified to something like:
    If(IsBlank(controlName.Text) || controlName.Text="", "", controlName.Text)  //maybe null instead of ""
