Creating a "Modified by" log file using Power apps canvas in Team

Hi All,

I'm still learning using this software. Is it possible to create a log file using only Power app and dataverse to create an Inventory for tools location apps that can be accessed by my team and have a log file history on who modified it last?

I envision to create a table that will save a new row of record from another table each time the form is successfully submitted. From that, I can access to the saved table to act as log file. If I can also delete the old 50 records automatically from the saved table once the row reached certain value, that be great.

If it not possible, can you guys suggest how you will approach this and what are the additional software will be used.

Thank you!

    Thank you for your reply,

It just felt overwhelming learning while creating an app if I didn't know if it possible or not to create one by using only these two tools. I will be asking a lot more in the future while developing the app.

    Hi!

This is absolutely possible using the tools you've described!

To begin, assuming you already have a form, you could just use a Patch function to upload the log to a separate list when it submits. You can get the current user with User(), and you can get the actual changes using *YourFormName*.Updates or *YourFormName*.LastSubmit.

I don't see why you would need any additional software for this, except for maybe a power automate flow, say if you wanted to automate deletion of items, or notify you of a new log.

Can't provide too much more without specifics, but looking into these should definitely give you something to start with

    Hope this helps! 🙂
