Make Solution version available to the App

As a professional developer

I want to be able to display the Azure DevOps build version number of my App and Solution within my PowerApp

So that I know which version of the source code has been deployed

Now that Solutions are being used to make team development possible (yes I know about the new new functionality about editing source code simultaneously) ... could the solution version be made available for display in the contained Apps?

Currently the solution has the version number, but I cant find any way of displaying that in the App.

The App version number does not relate to the DevOps version number in the solution.

So we need a way of displaying both perhaps.

Alternately we need a way of version stamping the App in the DevOps pipeline.

I have the same question (0)

You could store the data in an environment variable and update that variable as part of your devops deploy procedure.

Thanks for that ... it's not going via any API, but it should work.

how would you go about this? I have tried a Powershell script to update the json file that the environment variable is stored in in my build pipeline, before the code is checked in. This causes an error when trying to deploy the solution in the release pipeline. It appears that the file is corrupted in some way.

##[error]The file /environmentvariabledefinitions/myapp_APIUrl/environmentvariablevalues.json cannot be imported.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Never mind. I fixed it. Had to use Set-Content with -NoNewLine switch to avoid the extra (blank) line added to the json file.
