SharePoint List / Planner Integration Logic

Hi all,

I have a SharePoint List that acts as an "action item" tracker and I also have a Planner app that has these tasks listed. These tasks are generated from external sources via Power Automate so they always exist in both the SP list and Planner. My goal is as follows:

  • If the Sharepoint Item is updated manually: Update the Planner with that information
  • If the Planner item is updated manually: Update the SP Item with that information

What I've done is create a column in the SP List that contains the unique "Task ID" of the respective Planner Task. Similarly, the Planner has the SP item link listed as a "reference alias". I'm hoping these the combination of these datapoints will allow me to tie the SP item and Planner Task together.

I've gotten the "SP to Planner" flow started using the "When item is modified" and "Get changes for an item" property. Is it possible to do something similar from "Planner to SP?". I also have a few concerns:

  • If the "Planner to SP" flow runs, how do I prevent it from triggering the other flow? The items are both already updated so I don't want that flow to run if SharePoint is updated via Power Automate.
  • What's the best way to create the logic to identify what items from Planner were updated and translate that into SharePoint updates?

Thanks in advance.
