I have recently published our first bot. Before making it available in the Teams Store, I wanted to test the bot in Teams. After opening the Bot, I tried a few of the defined topics included with the bot - no issues. However, when I attempt to ask anything that would require generative AI in the response, such as looking up an article on a connected SharePoint page, the bot stops responding. If I revert to topic-defined discussions, the bot resumes working.
I verified I could still get generative AI answers from Copilot on the web. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the bot, but the same issue persists.
I feel like there is a setting I am missing in the Teams Admin center to allow generative AI to be used in a response in Teams, but am unable to locate anything on this in documentation, or the admin center. Has anyone else encountered this issue, or do you have any troubleshooting steps that could help to resolve the issue?
Hi, @kreijosh1 .
When you're in Copilot Studio on the browser, you'll be able to test / verify Generative Answers with SharePoint, but to deploy it to Microsoft Teams, you must follow the Authentication setup Microsoft has online (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-copilot-studio/nlu-generative-answers-sharepoint-onedrive). In summary, manual authentication with an Azure AD app registration is necessary to give the app delegation privileges that allow it to search SharePoint content on behalf of the logged in user. Without this configuration, you'll only see the Generative Answers work within the web browser while testing in Copilot Studio.
Cheers,
Matt
