Hi,
We've created an Azure AD group for external users (eg.: Abc_AzureExternal_Account) and We've shared the account with PowerApps application, so that whoever name is present in Abc_AzureExternal_Account group can access the application.
But unfortunately, user is getting the below error:
I'm not getting on which part we're doing wrong.
Thanks
Yes external users with Office 365 licenses can access an app the doesn't use a Premium connector. That's because Office 365 includes Power Apps licensing for standard connectors. But an external user without Office 365 or who's only license is Office 365 Home or personal won't be covered because they don't have an office license that includes Power Apps.
Got it @Pstork1
Just one last question,
In microsoft docs, in the table, can user access the application without license if not using premium connector? Like it is mentioned in this table:
PowerApps included with office => canvas app (using non premium connector) can be accessible without license (the tick is there).
Here is the link:
Maybe that external user tested the powerapps without any premium and that's why he is able to access it?
Thanks
Even if he can somehow access the Power apps application without a license he is legally required to have one. It just means that in that one instance the software didn't catch it. The documentation is clear that an external user must have a license to access a Power App.
Hi @Pstork1 ,
The external user tested, he is able to access the Powerapps application (created for testing purpose) using Azure AD Group. (without any license)
But the same external user is not able to access the official powerapps application (which also use premium connector) without any license.
How is that possible?
Thanks
I would check the internal users again. They must have some license that covers the use of Power Apps. It can be M365, Dynamics 365, or Power Apps. But they are legally required to have a license. External users also need a license. That's what your error is reporting. Check this article. Share a canvas app with guest users (contains video) - Power Apps | Microsoft Learn
Hi @Pstork1 ,
Thanks for your reply, but I can see that some internal users can access the application who doesn't have any M365 or PowerApps licenses.
But for external users, the application is not working.
Thanks
External users still need an appropriate Power Apps license to use a Power App. If they have a license in their own tenant that will work otherwise you need to assign them a license from your tenant. An M365 license will do if the app doesn't use any premium connectors. Otherwise they will need either a per user or per app license. The error you are getting suggests they don't have a license.
