Common Data Service

As I learn my way through and around the the Common Data Service, I am looking for some guidance.  My scenario is as follows:  On a daily basis, I receive a General Ledger file extract from our ERP system. The file is a Cumulative file meaning the transactions that were previously received are in the new file with the new GL transactions add.

I would like to import the the data into the common data service so that I can create a Model Drive App based on the information in the file.  I would like any recommendation on the best approach /most efficient manner in which I can load data into the CDS.  I really have not found any guidance that deals with this scenario.

A little information about the file.  The file is a SQL Extract in CSV format from our Financial Management System.  And no, we don't have the ability to connect to this source as the information is maintained by our Service Provider.

I appreciate the support.

    Hi @robsanford,

Dataflows may be a an option for you. If your data has a date time field, you can do an incremental sync so that only recent information gets synced instead of a full sync which becomes challenging once the dataset becomes large.

Have a look at the references below to see if this fits your use case.

    Hi @robsanford,

Dataflows is one of the out-of-the-box Power Platform features as @ChrisPiasecki mentioned. It's great for data sources with small amount of records and fairly simple data models. Another common low code/no code option is Power Automate with can give you more control than Dataflows. Besides those, you can look at Azure Logic Apps (similar to Power Automate) or custom route levergaing the CDS Apis.

    Hope this helps
