Copilot Wont Search Sharepoint List

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to use Copilot Studio with a SharePoint List as my data source, but I keep encountering an issue. Here's what I've done so far:

I've selected and enabled the SharePoint List as my data source in Copilot Studio, and I can confirm it is connected.
I have turned on Generative AI.
However, whenever I try to use the Copilot functionality, it states that it doesn't have access to the SharePoint List.

Has anyone encountered this issue or know of any additional steps I may have missed to grant access to the SharePoint List? Any insights or troubleshooting tips would be appreciated!

Copilot Studio cannot generate responses from SharePoint List. Try leveraging Dataverse table for this use case.

Hi,

Please, in order to use SharePoint list, I would recommend enabling the manual authentication in your copilot, using Azure Active Directory, and requiring users to sign in. At the Power Platform Conference this year I spoke to a few experts on this with different answers.

1. They continue to try and add a native connection to Lists. Issue is the amount of Metadata stored in lists and the current search index it would take.

2. Use Dataflows to capture the date from Lists and store it in Dataverse Tables.
We've tried this but are currently still Experiencing incomplete results to questions.

3. Extending the Copilot Agent with M365 Copilot which does have a connection to SharePoint lists.

Still waiting to get on the Beta test list here at our company for M365 Copilot so I can test this last one out.

Hello DS-18092222-0 ,

For using SharePoint as Knowledge source, i would suggest to go for Manual Authentication that is recommended in the documentation.

I have tried using SharePoint sites as knowledge source, but the actual source is files inside the SharePoint. It works as expected. Hope the same goes for SharePoint list also.

Hi DS-18092222-0,

One more best way which i can suggest is to develop a Custom Action.

Build an Action by using the SharePoint connectors. I can read the information from the SharePoint List.

Many times i have felt that structured data like Excel in knowledge source is not working as expected. So i follow the same approach of creating Custom Actions.
