Creating a Calendar Event - Equipment Management App

Hello,

Let me first explain what I hope to accomplish and then try to explain my issues and where I'm at. My difficulties are around patching information from one table to another and point #3 - Equipment Reservations. I started this in excel, moved to smartsheets, made a canvas app, now I'm trying to create a model-driven application via Power Apps.

What I'm looking for:

I would break this app down into three separate areas/functions...
  1. Equipment List
  2. Equipment Management
  3. Reserving Equipment
1. Equipment List
Self-explanatory. A big list of every piece of equipment we own that includes information such as serial numbers, category, custom asset tags, notes, etc. I want to be able to look through (and sort) all of our equipment. I used sharepoint lists in the canvas app - but I currently just have a table within the app.

I don't think I have many issues here as this is straight forward BUT, my hope is to REFERENCE any piece of equipment within this list in either of the other two areas (Equipment Management and Reserving). I have an automated numbering system to give each piece of equipment entered a Unique IQ: 'MEIDA-000001...MEDIA-000002.....MEDIA-000003' etc.

2. Equipment Management
In this area, I want my users to be able to select any item from the Equipment List and request maintenance services. This would take the selected item's info into its own table and include a custom column that includes notes about what needs, progress, and the action to be performed. Once a user changes an item's progress choice to 'Complete, it will take whatever is in the 'notes' column and patch it over back into a 'Service Entry' column on the Equipment List table with adding on additional text like {DATE/TIME} + "SERVICE COMPLETED - " + {Notes} as an entry. This would keep adding entries as many times as it went through the equipment manager and completed.

I think I had this set up well with my canvas app - I just carried the Unique ID with the selected item and patched the notes column back to the proper service entry column.

I am not sure how best to accomplish this with a Model-driven app. Thoughts?

This was simple with Canvas apps because I could easily code it in.

3. Reserving Equipment
Okay, this is my biggest hurdle right now. I've gotten the other two areas to work decent within a canvas app so I assume I can do it easily within a model-driven app just have to figure out how. But I haven't been able to figure out how to best reserve/book equipment.

This can get into the nitty gritty because of my specific use-case so bear with me....

Ideally, I'd like to click on the Reservation page to reserve equipment. From there I want users to be able to select multiple pieces of equipment from the Equipment List, add in a project name, and maybe some more details, and reserve equipment by creating an Outlook calendar event that includes this info.

The kicker is I'm looking to have this event created in a shared mailbox/calendar. Additionally, there are two calendars attached to this shared mailbox and I need to create the event on the second calendar which is our facilities calendar, not the main calendar. I have not found out how to do this. I would assume I can grab the calendar ID but I haven't been able to find this even through MS Graph.

In a perfect world that reservation info is also brought back into the item details of the item in the Equipment List so that when viewing details, I can click the reservation tab for that specific item to see when it's been booked.

Again, I'm unsure if this is even possible. I have gotten my app to book calendar holds on its own reservation calendar view but can't seem to figure out how to not only select and add multiple reserved items to the event, but to book on the specific calendar I need as well as that info being brought into the Equipment list for each individual item (Not needed but would be helpful to not have to go back to the reservations page to check).

Any advice/help/guidance is greatly appreciated!! Canvas apps seem a little easier for me to control custom patching and buttons but model-driven apps are just overall cleaner with less coding needed. All-in-all I feel like this is a simple concept just a few extra connections/coding is needed!
