Caching Current User OnStart

Hello All,

I'm a bit confused as to why I cant seem to grab the current user when I add a canvas app to a site page as a webpart. I'm not receiving any errors so I don't know what the issue is.

I have the app OnStart property set as below;

I then have a Text Label control set to;

dwtk_1-1629664392950.png

But when I test, the text label does not populate with the current user full name.

Am I doing this wrong? Is there a better way?

I appreciate any suggestions.

    Hi @dwtk ,

    It should work, but try directly

    User().FullName

    You also do not need Text as it is already text.

    Thank you for replying @WarrenBelz,

    I cleared browser cache and it did work.... kinda, I populates a name in the webpart, but when I log in as my test user account, it does not display that account name but rather my admin account. See image below; (Using Edge Dev)

    If I open the app from the link, the current user loads as intended> I have removed the WP and readded, ensuring the latest app ID us used, do dice!

    Hi @dwtk ,

    Not something I utilise a lot (this facility as I have always found it "clunky"), but logic says the only place the system can get the user's name is from the logged-in user (as I said, it should work).

    Is there a reason you have not made it a stand-alone app?

    Hehehehe, cause Imma Newby, jk. I think that is the route I'll have go, I'm gonna check permissions first, but yeah... There is no mandate to host as a WP.

    Cheers WarrenBelz for your time and neurons spent.
