It looks like (and I hope Iam wrong) that Dataverse is an web version of MS-Access without the VBA and not able to do any processing (like in Store Procedures, Triggers or functions). You may create your own tables or use existing one (like in SAP), but no possibility to do indexing and other more "grown up" database functions.
Iam truly hoping that Iam wrong here and have missed the big picture. If thats the case, please enlighten my mind.

You don't work with Dataverse like you would with a SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres, etc. Dataverse does abstract many things that you might be used to doing but has a lot of additional features above and beyond a standard SQL environment.
