Licensing question for model driven apps

Hi

Hoping someone can help.

I want to create a model driven app for my organisation but, although we have D365 CE(Sales and ProjOps) it has nothing to do with them or the processes they hold.

I understand that D365 Team member licenses have a restriction where a model driven app a user access must be in the context of D365.

So if we want all users in our org to access a model driven app that is not in the context of D365, do we need to get everyone a Power Apps Per user license or is it just not allowed period?

Appreciate any help on this.

I have the same question (0)

    Hello,

Yes, you can build and use apps outside of the context of D365, but you will have to license your users for them in addition to your D365 licenses. You can do this using Power Apps Premium licenses (formerly known as Per User), or you can also use per-app and consumption based licenses, which would be cheaper if this is the only app you want to share with your users. Here's a link to the Power Platform licensing guide which compares the different licensing options available to you.

    Many thanks for confirming that.

    Re: Context

Do you know what's the definition of this?

Looking up a table in Dynamics? Writing back? Part of a process defined in Dynamics? What's the minimum requirements?

We have been told that our A5 subscription seeds each user with the ability to use a D365 context related model driven app.

    Hello @RIYxWRK,

    According to the licensing guide:

"Dynamics 365 licenses include Power Automate use rights for the purpose of customizing and extending Dynamics 365
applications. Power Automate use within Dynamics 365 is limited to the context of the embedding Dynamics 365
application. For both triggers and actions, flows included within the Dynamics 365 application can connect:
    • To any data source within the use rights of the Dynamics 365 application
    • Directly with the Dynamics 365 application (via built in trigger/action)
If the embedded flow is not within the context of the Dynamics 365 application, then full Power Automate licenses will
    need to be purchased."

The same applies to Power Apps.

My understanding is that A5 licenses do not give you use rights to premium connectors, but you need premium connectors to access a model-driven app.
