One field locked to specific users only?

We have a form that we use for two different teams, and one team continues to fill out the others section. We really need both teams to be able to fill this out, so separate forms isnt really an option for us.

Is there a way to lock down just one field (our form is through a SharePoint list) so that it is not editable by the rest of the users?

A SharePoint list does not offer column-level restrictions on use - users have the same level of access to the entire list. Therefore, any restrictions you create must be done within the logic of the app itself.
