Power Apps-triggered flow not launching when pressed by 'Basic User' security role

Hello,

Apologies if this is solved elsewhere, but I haven't been able to find the answer.

I am building an app in which a button submits a leave request to a line manager. I can press the button as environment owner, and the flow launches fine. However, when I try the same thing as a basic user, nothing happens (I don't even get an error message).

I assume this is because 'Basic Users' do not have the necessary permissions in the security role's custom entities panel. I have been trying to determine which entities would allow this action, but haven't been able to determine it yet.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Best

If the app and flow are both in a solution make sure that you are using connection references for any connections in the flow.  Otherwise authentication doesn't get established for anyone who doesn't have owner access on the flow.

@Pstork1 Thank you for the very quick answer.

This is my very first experience deploying an app through a solution and I have have not been able to have my flows 'follow' in the production environment. As a result, I have had to re-create the flow at destination.

I will investigate connection references as you suggest, but based on what you write, it also seems that including flows in solutions is possible (as opposed to things I've read elsewhere) so will read up on that too. I would be extremely grateful if you had some reference to suggest to overcome that issue though.

    Thank you,

    Gwenn

If you have a Power App created in a solution it won't be able to correctly call a flow unless the flow was also created in the solution (and uses connection references in my experience).  What you may have read is that a lot of Existing flows (especially flows with manual triggers) can't be imported into a solution.  They have to be built there.

Just as an update: all I had to do was removing the flow from the canvas app, publishing and re-adding it (the typical case of flow connections breaking when edits are made to the flow).

However, thank you for your suggestions around connection references + link to relevant article, I have started reading on this and am happy I did because this will help me with setting up a much healthier solution and overall lifecycle management!
