I understand the PowerBi Integration using a PowerApp visual in the PowerBi report. What I want to do is pull in data from a PowerBi dataset and create a drop down for a PowerApp, without using PowerApp as a visual in the PowerBi report. Basically I want my users to be able to launch the PowerApp directly and not have to use PowerBi. Is this possible?
If i am understanding your question correctly I still believe it is not currently possible to do what you ask. You can embed / Integrate with Power Bi, which from reading your question it seems you are aware of but wish to avoid, and you can also display Power Bi Visuals in Power Apps. What you cannot currently do is use a dataset as a datasource and reference it in dropdowns. You can however usually reference the source data.
