Best Practices for Cross-Tenant Access in PowerApps

Hello Community,

I need some advice on a cross-tenant setup we have in Azure.

We have two tenants, synchronized in Azure. One tenant users need to access PowerApps in the other tenant.

I'm unsure if they can fully use features like:

  1. Office 365 Users Connector: Populates the manager in a dropdown.
  2. QR Code Scanner Premium Connector: Used in another flow.

Questions:

  1. Best practices for cross-tenant access, especially for these connectors?
  2. Should we import the apps into the other tenant to avoid issues?

Any insights or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

    Hi,

    PowerApps and Connectors
    • Office 365 Users Connector:
      • This connector is scalable across tenants if necessary permissions.
      • Ensure that the guest users in Tenant B have the appropriate roles and permissions to access the data in Tenant A.
    • QR Code Scanner Premium Connector:
      • Premium connectors typically require a PowerApps Premium license. Ensure that users have the necessary licenses in both tenants.
      • The functionality should work as long as the users have access to the connector and the underlying resources.
    Alternate Approaches
    • Use Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) B2B Direct Access
    • Instead of the Office 365 Users connector, call Graph API to retrieve user details.
    • Hybrid
      • Store user and manager data in a SharePoint list or Dataverse.
      • Sync user profiles from both tenants via Power Automate or Graph API.
If the app relies heavily on Office 365 Users and tenant-specific data sources, importing it into the second tenant might be necessary else you can perform the sync using Power Automate to maintain the consistency between two apps.

I believe this gives very basic idea to understand the mapping.
