Dataflow import not proposing GUID column in mapping

Hello, 

 

I am trying to transfer data from an Excel list to a Dataverse table using a Dataflow. My table has a LookUp column to another Dataverse table. I have retreived the GUIDs from the referenced table and stored them in the Excel. (They are in format text as there is no option for an ID type). When I create the dataflow the GUID column is not available in the mapping. I have an alternate key on the table, but I can't use this key. I have tried to remove the alternate key, but the GUID column is still not suggested in the mapping. Can anyone help ?

    Hi @HFG ,

    Are you trying to add a relationship to another table utilizing this approach?  Example, are you trying to set the lookup field for the other table on this table?  If so, this is not the approach that should be followed.  You would populate the Primary Name field from Table B in the Table A lookup column and this will automatically create the relationship.   Note, this requires the Primary Name field to be unique in Table B.

    Thanks for your reply. Yes, I was trying to populate a LookUp field. Unfortunately using the primary label column was not possible as it's not unique. I assumed I'd be able to use the GUID as by definition it's the unique identifer of the line and, from my experience, is the only way to create a relationship in some other tools. 

     

    In the end I have been able to use a alternate key based on two columns (Product Reference + Color ID) to create a unique ID and create the relationship. I add an alternate key on the table and then in the two drop downs that are proposed for product in the mapping I pass these two pieces of information and the dataflow is able to create the relationship.
