When creating topics with specific phrases the generative search on websites doesnt seem to work on some sites.
for instance when I use esc16.net it works fine but when I use https://texasesc16.tedk12.com/hire/Index.aspx it returns blank.
I have also tried doing similar jobs with other websites like edhive.net and questions return blank.
What I am I doing wrong?
I am obviously new to copilot but also Microsoft Power tools in general. I appreciate any help!
When I built the Copilot I used the domain texascss.net and when I try searches like:
It just says "I'm Sorry I can't seem to help"
I have tried variations of:
and get the same problem with all of them inside the Conversation Booster. I also tried building A bing Search using the Custom Identifier as bb824398-9e33-45ad-8977-98f7325561ba
This is a squarespace site but I testing this with other SP sites and it seems to work fine. I did find this setting in SP but everything is turned on so I don't think it would be blocking the chatbot:
Here are some screenshots of my copilot
Can you share more about what's not working? What questions are you asking and what pages have you configured?
Hey @HenryJammes
It seems I have another issue that is similar. I have tried bing custom search and the domain directly. Are there other factors that would prevent copilot for generating the content?
www.texascss.net
this site is hosted on squarespace but I also have similar issues with EdHive.net. I feel like I am missing something in the creation process since these are top level domains.
Thank you so much! This fixed the issue
Hi @r16cto,
For the public data source, when using public websites, Generative Answers expects URLs with a maximum of 2 levels of depth for subpages, but no direct pages. If we use the analogy with a file system, this means you can point to a max of two sub-folders, but not directly point to files.
Here, https://texasesc16.tedk12.com/hire/Index.aspx is one level of depth down, but points to a single page.
If you scope a Bing search to the site you provided, you'll find that it doesn't yield any result either:
https://www.bing.com/search?q=site%3Ahttps%3A%2F%2Ftexasesc16.tedk12.com%2Fhire%2FIndex.aspx
So, if you use website URLs you have to use https://texasesc16.tedk12.com/hire/.
If you specifically only need to use the Index.aspx page, there is a workaround, that is to use Bing Custom Search for generative answers. This offers more granularity into the URLs you use to scope the search, as you can hand pick the URLs and use direct pages (i.e. no sub-page crawling).
