Hi All,

Generic account has PowerApp Premium license, used Azure SQL Connection to create an APP and this app has been Published and shared to non premium licensed users within organization, and it was working fine for 2weeks approx. now suddenly asking everyone to upgrade PowerApps license or extend trail period.

in between Generic Account Power Apps premium license has been extended
so, is that the problem due to License Extension ?
Or any policy updated on Azure SQL Server side ?
Changed the password for Generic ID and Republished the app but setting getting the same issue.

Error Message :
The user with object identifier '' in tenant '' does not have an active plan with sufficient policies to use this app.
The user with object identifier '' in tenant '' does not have a plan with sufficient policies to use premium APIs. Premium APIs used by the app: shared_sql

Your problem is because in the past Premium connections had a legal requirement that all users have Premium licenses, but the Power Apps software didn't always enforce that requirement. MS recently started updating the Power Apps software to enforce the existing legal requirement. Even though your app worked in the past for non-Premium users, it wasn't legally compliant. That loophole has now been closed.  The fix is to meet the legal requirement and purchase premium licenses or per app licenses for all the users of the app.

    Hi Paul @

Thanks for your response. could you please confirm, enforcing legal requirement happened 14-May-2025?.
because after i changed the password for my generic account and license extension I was facing this issue.

also, as per Microsoft blog Shared connection should work with all the 365 users. so, i think this problem is because of Azure Activity Directory / service principal or some policy.

@KG-23091757-0 If you look at the chart you posted you will notice it says "Standard Connectors" are included.  Premium connectors on the next line are not.  SQL is a Premium connector, so it is not included in that license.  Legally that has always been the case, but the software didn't always catch it.  It was still a legal requirement. Recent releases have been better at showing when a premium connector was being used.  The use of SQL as a data source is why its premium.  It has nothing to do with changing your password or data policies.
