Sharepoint library security when accessing files from Model Driven App

(1) ShareShare

Hi,

I am a newbie here. Hope you can help me.

I have created a sharepoint library file access from a Dataverse/Model Driven App.  From there I upload my files.

Whenever a file is created, a power automate flow will grant access to users based on either Edit or Read roles.

The security works in Sharepoint library itself.  However it does not work from the Model Driven App.

For user1, I grant only Read role access, but in the Model Driven App, I can still delete it; whereas  in the sharepoint library I can't delete as the delete button no long exists in this Read role security,.

May I know what I should do to enforce this security from the Model Driven App?

Regards

Steve

    Hi Steve,

It sounds like you're facing a common challenge when integrating SharePoint with a Dataverse/Model-Driven App. The security settings you've configured in SharePoint aren't being enforced in your Model-Driven App, so users can still perform actions like deleting files, even if they only have read access.

To solve this issue, you can use Inogic's SharePoint Security Sync app. This solution ensures that the security permissions set in SharePoint are synchronized and respected in your Dataverse, maintaining consistent access controls across both platforms. By implementing this, you can enforce the same read and edit permissions, preventing unauthorized actions like deletions within your Dataverse.

Moreover, Security Templates in SharePoint Security Sync allow administrators to control user access to various UI features such as Upload, Download, Email, Copy Link, and Rename in SharePoint. SharePoint Security Sync not only synchronizes privileges but also enables modifications to security roles in Dataverse, which are then mirrored in SharePoint. Furthermore, Bulk Migration in SharePoint Security Sync enables users to set up and manage the bulk transfer of attachments from Dataverse to SharePoint. It provides detailed tracking and status updates for migrating attachments related to Activities, Notes, and Sales Literature. Users can leverage DocuSign features to electronically sign documents or attachments stored in SharePoint. By selecting a document, users can utilize the 'Get Signature' or 'Sign Document' options directly from SharePoint.

If you want to know more about the app, you can install an app from Inogic or Microsoft AppSource and embark on a 15-day free trial journey to explore its powerful features.
