Hello all,

Sorry for so basic question, but how can I perform a copy and past of an item already registered in model driven app to create a 'clone item' ?

So the user need to change only one or two fields in the FORM and others keep the same.

Thank You!model driven clone item.jpg

I have the same question (0)

    Hi @Rlimbrs ,

There is no such function available directly on the user interface.

    What you can do is:

    1. Export the record(s) to Excel.
    2. Unhide columns A,B,C and delete them.
    3. Save the file then import it back.

Step #2 is important, if you don't delete the columns, importing the record back in would do an update of the existing record.

    Hi @Rlimbrs ,

Other alternative to copy records are:

    1. Power Apps Excel add-in which works quite nicely: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/powerapps/maker/common-data-service/data-platform-excel-addin
    2. Record cloner from XrmToolbox: https://www.xrmtoolbox.com/plugins/SimpleRecordCloner/
    3. 3rd party add-ins like Click2Clone: https://www.inogic.com/product/productivity-pack/click-2-clone-microsoft-dynamics-crm-records
    4. Workflow tools which has a bunch of useful utilities such as clone records. The only thing is it's using classic workflows: https://github.com/demianrasko/Dynamics-365-Workflow-Tools#readme

Feel free to submit that idea at: https://powerusers.microsoft.com/t5/Power-Apps-Ideas/idb-p/PowerAppsIdeas

    Hope this helps!

    @Rlimbrs

You could also use Power Automate and the “When a record is selected” trigger to create a Flow to clone a record.

Hi @Kumar_bi, yes but I usually use Power Automate for that scenario like @HSheild suggested
