Relationship Between Two tables

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by 20

I am using two tables under the report wizard in powerapps. The issue then comes from the tables that I am using. Table 1 has a one-to-many relationship with Table 2. Now when I create the report the values do not transfer over and come blank. Is this some sort of relationship issue in the tables and does not realize that the data is connected. What would I need to do?

I have the same question (0)

Hello, @jbmonte , check this documentation and verify that you have Step#5 correctly:

    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/user/create-report-with-wizard

Yes I have done that and made sure the relationships were going in the right direction.

Hello @jbmonte, sorry for the delay, I was trying to recreate your issue but I couldn't. But here what I did and my report worked just fine:

    • I have two custom tables (Students and Classes) 1-N relationship
    • I need a report to show students and there respective classes
    • I started Here to create the Report SubArea in my model-Driven App https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/maker/model-driven-apps/add-reporting-to-app
    • One thing I did extra was to add both of my tables to the Privileges Section under Advanced on the Site Map > SubArea Properties:

    • Then I created the Report using the wizard

I did what you did and it still does not work, I am not sure if there is an issue with my custom tables or the relationship between them. I have tried flipping the many-to-one on both ends and I get the same issue. The data will come up blank for whichever table has the many part.

@jbmonte, How did you load the data into the Lookup Column in the Many Table?

What exactly should be put in that lookup column, as of now it is blank on the many table

@jbmonte, that is why you don't get the many data on the report. The Lookup column should have the value of the One Table record. Fill the column in the edit designer of the table. Let me know if you don't know how. NOTE: the values that will populated for you (Not hard typing) is the values of the Default Name Column in your One Table.

Okay that fixed everything, is there a way that does not involve manually inputting the data for that column?

@jbmonte , yes, to use Dataflows to load the data into the many Table. you have to make sure that your ONE table has an Alternate Key setup (which should be the column that has the unique values, and they are the same values you are using in the many table as foreign keys).
