Updating a Choice column in SharePoint from a ComboBox control in Power Apps

Hi - I have a Power Apps form based on a SharePoint list. The SharePoint list has two choice columns: "Executive Organization" and "Business Group." I created a separate SharePoint list with the same two columns: "ExecOrg" and "BusinessGroup." The columns in each list have the same values. Business Group is a sub-category of Executive Org (i.e., an Exec Org comprises a few of the Business Groups - a one-to-many relationship). I want my combobox in the Power App form to include only the choices from the "BusinessGroup" column that are related to the selection from the Executive Organization column. I have set the Items property of the Business Group combobox to: "Filter([@LOBsandSubLOBs2],ExecOrg2=DataCardValue253.Selected.Value). This works to filter the values to only the ones that relate to the Exec Org selection. However, when I submit the form in Power Apps, it doesn't save the selected value from the Business Group combobox to the Business Group column for this item in the SharePoint list. I can't figure out what I am missing. I need to get it to save this value to the SharePoint list. Any guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi @TimV ,

    I am assuming the field name displayed in the Combo Box, but the Update of the Data Card should be this structure

    {Value: YourComboBoxName.Selected.BusinessGroup}

    Thanks, but that didn't solve the problem. When I save the form, the data from the combo box doesn't save to the SharePoint list. It just reverts to no selection. I have tried it two ways with the SharePoint column - one as a choice column and one as a lookup column that points to the column from the other SharePoint list. In both cases, I can get the combo box to filter the values, but I can't get it to save to the SharePoint field. My combo box is based on the SharePoint column - I didn't create a custom combo box. Is that a possible reason this isn't working? I'm at a loss as to what to do next. Any other information you can provide would be great.

    Hi @TimV ,

    There are only two settings here you need to address - one was in my previous post (Update of the Data Card) and the DefaultSelectedItems of the Combo Box. I am going to assume that your SharePoint column is a single choice (throw away that lookup column as it will only unnecessarily complicate this further). You need to use your field and control names here as I do not know them. So assuming you are displaying the field 'Business Group' in the combo box and the field name you are writing to is BusinessGroup, your DefaultSelectedItems would be

    {'Business Group': ThisItem.BusinessGroup}

    and assuming your Combo Box name as cmbBusinessGroup, the Update of the Data Card would be

    {Value: cmbBusinessGroup.Selected.'Business Group'}
