Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Today we released the latest version of the PowerApps CLI!

In this update we took time to collect the top issues reported by our users and address them. If you have not yet updated your PowerApps CLI to the latest version, please take a minute to install the latest MSI by following these installation instructions.

Once you have the latest version of the CLI you can always refer to the tooling documentation to get started or to update your existing projects.

What improvements can you expect in this release?

PowerApps CLI

  • We added support to create a CDS Project (CDS Proj) based on an existing solution in your environment using the "pac solution clone" command. You can use the -include flag to select the settings you want to include in the cloned solution.
  • We added support to create a plugin project using the “pac plugin init” command and add a reference to a plugin project in your solution using the “pac add-reference -path <path to your plugin project>” command. These commands are in public preview.

Let us know what you think!

We hope you enjoy all December updates in the PowerApps CLI and are excited to hear what you think. If you have questions or other feedback, please let us know on the PowerApps component framework forum. We look forward to hearing from you!

    Hi @R0hit ,

Thanks for sharing. It would be great in developing Custom Component.

@R0hit thanks for the update! Can you please tell a bit about usecases when "plugin" project can be used?

    Hello,

In fact, the CLI Power Apps is not only used to create custom components.
In the case of the "pac plugin init", it will generate a PluginBase with an example plugin!
