"You need additional access"

When trying to log into CopilotStudio, I get the following message:

You need additional access
To use or edit copilots in this environment, ask your administrator to update your permission groups.

Your account is missing these permissions:

  • prvReadbot
  • prvWritebot
  • prvReadbotcomponent
  • prvWritebotcomponent

I'm a global admin, and the account is licensed. My coworker is able to get in and as far as I know, we have similar permissions.

Any ideas as to where to assign these permissions?

You will assign these permissions in the Power Apps Environment where this Copilot is housed. You obviously have a user there, you just need to add a role to yourself. I'd suggest you just grant yourself System Administrator and be done with it.

Sorry, forgot to include a link: https://admin.powerplatform.microsoft.com

Pick the correct Environment, go to Settings --> Users and Permissions --> Users

Pick yourself from the list and click Manage Security Roles.

    1. Sign into Power Platform Admin Center

Go to the Power Platform Admin Center and ensure you have the necessary administrator privileges (e.g., System Administrator).

    2. Identify the Environment

Select the environment where Microsoft Copilot Studio is hosted.

    3. Access the Security Roles

      • Navigate to Settings > Users + Permissions > Security Roles.
      • Alternatively, go to Advanced Settings > Security > Security Roles.
    4. Find or Modify a Security Role

Locate the security role assigned to your account. For example, roles like System Customizer, System Administrator, or Power Platform Admin often have comprehensive permissions.

      • If you lack sufficient permissions, create or modify a custom security role:

Set these privileges to Organization-level to ensure proper access.

        • Click New Role or edit an existing one.
        • Under Tables, locate and grant the following privileges:
          • Bot (prvReadbot, prvWritebot)
          • Bot Component (prvReadbotcomponent, prvWritebotcomponent)
          • Solution (prvReadSolution)
    5. Assign the Security Role to the User

      • Navigate to Settings > Users + Permissions > Users.
      • Find your user account.
      • Click Manage Security Roles and assign the updated role with the required permissions.
    6. Save and Test

Log out and back in to apply the changes and verify access to Microsoft Copilot Studio
