PowerApps Pricing

Hi everyone,

I just had a question that I have searched a long time for but haven't been able to find the answer and thought I would find it here maybe. What is the PowerApps pricing plan for office365 plans or other plans that include SharePoint? Also, is there any announcement on changing the pricing again? Our company is still in shock over the price changes and we can't imagine things continuing the way they are and don't know who would even be willing to pay the increased price per user to use PowerApps.

Any help or advice is very appreciated. Thanks a bunch.

Kind regards,

Ben Fetters

A standard PowerApps license is included in most Office 365 license plans at no additional charge.  The SQL and Azure connectors were reclassified on October 1 as premium connectors and will require additional licensing going forward.  But there is a one year extension on existing licensing in general and a five year waiver for existing SQL apps.  So general licensing for creating PowerApps using SharePoint and OneDrive data sources hasn't changed.  Its still included in the cost of your Office license.  Its some of the non-SharePoint connectors where pricing has changed.  I am not aware of any pending announcements at this point to roll any of that back or change it further.

Thank you so much for the clarification! Just to be sure, if we have Office 365 E3 Licenses, we don't pay any additional PowerApps charges?

This makes much more sense, thank you.

If you have an E3 license there are no additional charges unless you use premium features like the On-Premises gateway or specific connectors like Salesforce.  The confusion tends to occur because the SQL connector was standard before Oct. 1 and is now premium.  But if you were using it in an app prior to October 1 you can continue to use it for the next 5 years.

Oh okay, that is much clearer now. Thank you so much. You are very helpful!

There are no changes announced for 2020 at this point.  Nor do I expect any.  You can read what licensing is included with what by downloading the Licensing Guide PDF here:
